I have a 75 gallon tank. I need to buy more snails and was wondering what are the best for keeping the brown and green algae off my glass. My water parameter are all in near perfect range. Lights.... Actinic from 8am to 8pm and the 10,000k whites are on from 10 am to 6pm and moonlights on from 8pm to 8am. How many snails for this type of algae do I need for my tank?

Tough to beat the Astraea Snail for general glass algae control....they can handle rock surfaces too...nerites are good for glass too...I like to have 2 snails per gallon myself.....

It is not hair algae. It is brown and some are green the brown is easy to scrape and the green takes a little elbow grease to get off. I was tinking of getting about 50 cerith snails but not sure.

I'd add a few of them for detritus control that'll help keep nutrients lower in your tank. I'd go for astreas for glass cleaners they'll help faster IME the cerinths will only move to the glass if they have nothing else really to eat.

For my 65gallon tank at startup I got 100Astera snails and around 50 ceriths. Cerith's are very small, they are good for eating things off the rocks and astrea waste.
