I found these in my tank earlier today. I assumed they were GBR eggs :) But then I noticed some in my 10 gallon tank.....on the other side of the room that does not have any Rams in it.

So the only thing that these tanks have in common is that they both get their water from the same tap, and the same bucket/siphon is used for each tank.

the only species that each tank has in common is a common otocinclus and a mystery snail.

other than that - the 16 has a pair of rams, 4 dwarf cories 2 killies and a ghost shrimp.

the 10 has a Betta, 12 pygmy rasboras and also an otocinlus niger.

Both tanks have DIY CO2 running to a hagen elite mini powerhead.....Could these be yeast spores?

I just NEED to know :) because I am weirded out by this and it's probably all for nothing, but it Could be something totally evil growing in the gravel :) Help.

Hmmm. Looks like poop to me. Lets see what others think too.

the only reason I didn't assume that first is because it only just appeared today (could just be only Noticed today) but I do tend to give each tank a good lookover several times each day and only just saw these today.

Do you have a separator bottle between your yeast and tank in your CO2 system? If so, that should rule out the possibility of yeast spores.

not fish eggs... any invert in there?

Each tank has a Mystery snail as mentioned.

I do not have a seperator bottle between the yeast bottle and the hagen mini elite 'diffusor' :o

definitely not eggs from the rams. do the objects move at all?

they do not move at all, that I have noticed. and I sat and looked at them for a good 15 minutes earlier because i was wondering if they would.

I wonder how they would be yeast spores though (if they are) - I don't have anything that looks like that in the CO2 bottle, and the level of water in the yeast bottles is Well below the tubing at the lid. a good 6 inches.

Reminds me of snail poop the way it piles up like that. Have you been feeding light colored foods?

Oh, and I suggest a gravel vac.
