I have a 36" twin-tube fluorescent strip light on my 45 gallon tank. Each bulb is an f30t8 "natural daylight" by marineland/eclipse. Is this sufficient lighting for anything? live rock? Anything like that? I doubt it but I am curious.

Also, my tank is shallow.... like 17" deep. So the lighting should be able to reach the bottom well.

Live rock, yes. The rock doesn't need lighting, and most hitch hikers will be hardy ones that don't have high lighting needs. Corals--some, particularly because the tank is shallow. I'd still stick with lower to mid-light corals, and place them within the top 10 inches of the tank. Mushrooms, polyps will be fine.

But I am getting less than 1.5 wpg?
