I am thinking about getting a background for my aquarium to help hide the hoses and wires that are running behind it. I was thinking about getting a blue or black background just to stay plain and hopefully show off the fish. What colors/themes do you guys have?

I just use black poster board. Cheap and serves the purpose and since I never clean the back glass anything else gets obscured anyway.
I found a book with sunset over shore, dolphin/whale type paintings, I cut out the pages and made a collage for one of my tanks.
I have a blue background..... 3 Different Colours of lighting which I use at varying times..
Blue Moonlight Light with blue background is well cool love it.....

Blue with a gradient into a deeper blue towards the bottom. I tried black and I liked it, but I liked the blue just a bit better.
Dark colors, like blue or black, work well. I leave mine against the white wall bcs. I don't have many tubes, but I heard black often gives a nice effect to the fish and also the fake fishtank ones don't work well bcs. the coloring hides your fish and their RADIANT BEAUTY!! 
Think about this- you are swimming underwater. What do you see it the distance in fw and what do you see in sw. Black and blue
