What do you guys do with leftover water?

So after realizing how much money those little buckets of water every week were adding onto the budget, I got myself a RO/DI unit. YAY!

I got the Kent Marine Maxxima Hi-S.

So I made bunch of water, added bunch of salt and made bunch of saltwater.

What do you guys normally do with leftover saltwater that you're not using, until you use them next time you do water change? I know it may sound like a silly question, but I never had to deal with this as I always made my weekly trip to LFS to get just the right amount of water every time.

What about on the leftover freshwater? Do you have to keep a powerhead in there all the time to keep the water moving?

Is it bad for water to be sitting in one place for say... couple weeks and use it again?

Thanks!

left over freshwater goes on the plants....

left over salt water goes on the yard of people you dont like.

I usually do not have any left over SW. I know how much I will be removing, and I make enough for a change. Left over RO water is used for top off, or stored for next water change. I usually do not have much RO water around.

sw can be stored for ages in a cool place...when I water change, I drain it straight into the shower recess...my fridge makes RO water, so Ive got it on tap, no waste there...

JO...

I'll be storing SW in a 55gallon plastic drum with a powerhead running to keep the water circulating. In the UK, some use what is called a water butt (erroneous fact, but how often do you get an opportunity to say 'water butt').

I also store at least 10gallons of fresh RO/DI Water in two 5gallon gas cans (plastic) for top offs.

I don't believe either has a shelf life, provided the container is air tight.

Water Butt. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. LOL

You should be safe storing your water as long as it covered with a good lid to keep any possible contaminents from entering it.

lol.........a water butt is not a large squishy *** but a large (typically plastic, 100G) keg. it is normally atached to the down pipe from the gutter of the roof to collect rain water, thereby saving water for the garden....

I have created marks on my sump so I know where the gallon marks are and I only create what I remove so I don't have left over salt water. I do create more RO/DI water than necessary for my own use and pet use.
