If i went a caught a Brim from my local pond and put him in with my other fish.

other fish....

one GT about 4in.

one Green Severum about 4 1\2 in.

one Gold Severum about 3in.

three Silver Dollars around 2in.

one Red hook S. Dollar about 4in.

i used "about" because you can't really tell without taking them out and measuring them. that would be cruel.

i was thinking that the brim would have to be about the same size or smaller..

give me your ideas..

and no water chemistry opinons... i know about that just curious about what other people would think would happen.

There's a good chance you'll infect your tank with parasites that are common in wild fish. Your brim would probably be a bit unhappy with the constant elevated temperatures your other fish would prefer.

80gJoe's first link is about the fish in question. The North American sunfish are often called bream. His second link is about the european bream.
 
Some down here get Bream, Bluegill and Warmouth mixed up when they catch or talk about them. No big deal. Now, when some confuse a Rainbow Trout with a Speckled Trout, that's a problem... LOL

Actually, morleyz is right. You have to worry about parasites. Also, it's not like going to the lfs and seeing the temperment of the fish before buying it.

IMHO. If you decide on doing this. What I would do is put the fish in the a quaritine tank and watch it for at least a month and treat it with an anti-parasitic med to be on the safe side.
 
io would do wqhat TYLER718 said to quarrantine the fish and make sure you quarrantine him wqith water that is the same or cklose to the water in the 120, maybe take some of thw 120 water out and put in in a 10g or maybe a 20g or whatever extra tank you have, treat it with the anti-parasite stuff tyler said.
 
thanks for the replys. of course I wouldn't actually be doing this, but i thought it would be nice to get your thoughts on it. my lfs guy said that the "brim" would tear apart my fish. i was seeing what some other people thought.

Yes, wild fish have parasites, but its not big deal. They an easily be taken care of. I have around 14 wild fish in my tanks. And brim is not a common name for any particular Sunfish. Many people use the term bream for all of the small sunfish. nIf your talking about something like a Green sunfish, a Long Ear, or a Pumkinseed, these should do reasonably well with your other fish. There is a small pond near my house that supports 150-200 Green Sunfish. This pond is very shallow and reaches temps of 80-90 degrees in the summer. They are aggressive however, but most cichlids can put up with this and dish it out too.

I'm not suggesting you do this, just saying that its certainly possible.
