anybody know what happened to this stuff? I remember they used to have a website, www.cell-pore.com but no more. It looked like the ideal bio-media.

wow, now I feel stupid. lol

Have you used this stuff? I tried it a while ago, and found that it was hard to clean and became really brittle over time. I basically phased it out in favor of more sponges everywhere I was using it.

Hmm, I had planned ot put some in my ac 500, in the order prefilter, coarse AC sponge, filter floss, cell-pore but if it's no good I'll stick with sponges. I got some black sponge from big al's that looks pretty good. it's a lot finer than the coarse AC sponge. The "biomax" media that came with my new aquaclear seems really... not that porous. think it'd eventually grow some denitrification colonies?

My Bio Rocker is almost all cell-pore, but the manual for it said that you will never have to clean the filter except for the filter pads. Also when using cell-pore, avoid moving it as much as possible, which can break it since it can be more fragile than other filter media. Try leaving it in a permantent spot where you'll move it a few times a year or less. But i think it still does a good job of filtering the water because you dont spend over $200 on something that doesn't work and my fish seem kinda happy with that filter.

by the way, i got it cheaper than its original price of $400, which includes the sump.

you can use lava rocks. the one i had broke too. the cell pore cubes seem good but i dont think you really need it if your filters big enough and you do regular maintainence and stock correctly, etc.
