Hello
I have a tank that is 30liters or 9gals that i need to breed some kind of fish to feed to my oscars. Guppies are not really than fast swimming and do not give the oscars lots of exercise, but if you could get loads of guppies it would be good. So please tell me a way to breed some kind of fish that is a feeder in a 9Gal.

Any type of livebearer will work. Breed like crazy. But please don't feed him just live fish as most aren't that nutricious...

The tank set up would be simple. Basic sponge filtration and heater. Maybe some decor but nothing else really.

Guppies can be more nutritious of you gut-load them before feeding. They're also probably the most prolific fish. I've heard people suggest convicts as an alternative but I've never tried it.

I've fed mosquito fish fry to my fish, they are really fast too.
they also seem to grow faster than guppies IME.

Recipe for breeding guppies:

1 male guppy
12 female guppies

Add water, wait about 2 weeks

If you really want that many, get 55gal or larger and get a few dozen feeders, or dig a pond outside. If you overfeed them a big they breed quickly.

Are these to be the sole source of food for the O? If that's the case, you will need a much larger tank.

I'd suggest growing earthworms, mealworms and/or crickets, myself. Much more nutritious, IMO...and easier to cultivate and maintain. Very easy to gut-load, as well.
