I have a 20 gallon planted tank with 4 otos and a bunch of cherry shrimp. In there also are a few cherry barb fry and some corycat fry. The cherry barb fry will be moved out as soon as they get larger. Just wondering what fish is shrimp safe?? I was thinking of cpds, zebra danios, a pair of rams, cardinal tetras, rainbow fish, or a different type of colorful schooling fish. I think the rams would eat shrimp, my kribs would definetely eat them... so I just need another type of fish to put in there.

Any suggestions would be great! OR just list for me what fish you do keep with your shrimp. Besides cories and otos of course.

How densely planted is the tank? the bottom line is basically ALL fish will eat shrimp, especially the babies/juvies. That being said, I have a couple tanks that I keep fish and shrimp together. My pygmy cories do not even look at the shrimp but the cpd's are constantly picking at them. I have had success keeping them with sterbai cory, cardinals and neons, cherry barbs, and dwarf gourami as well. But again this was a VERY densely planted tank. The thing is if you plant the tank densely enough for the shrimp to not get eaten, you rarely see them.

it has good bit of plants and some driftwood with lots of hiding places, but I really wanted some fish to stand out. I'd like to get some cpds but worried they'd eat most of the fish. I might try neons or caridinals I guess.

it does have alot of hiding places you could certainly try the shrimp with cpd's, i have cherries in with mine (just cause i haven't been able to catch them) and the larger juvies and adults are doing just fine.

cool thanks for the info! I've seen cherry barb fry chase a shrimp but never try to eat them. I might try to get some and try it out. Btw how are your cpd's doing?? do they need certain water parameters? I have hard water and ph is 7.8ish

i kept white clouds with shrimp in a tub pond outside all summer and there were tons of baby shrimps and baby white clouds by the end of summer, so i think white clouds could work too.

So how about any form of the smaller type of tetras? (gold, neon, ember, etc.)
I'm starting a shrimp tank and was wanting to get a school of some sort of tetras. Either gold or black neon tetras.
