What fruit do you feed your fish?

My barbs go crazy over blanched vegetables, so I'd thought I'd try giving them fruit, just as an occasional treat.
I was thinking of bananas, because that seems pretty straightforward--just weight a slice and drop it in. But I've seen pics of people feeding their fish slices of orange, and that I don't quite get--wouldn't I be getting orange juice in my water?

So, before I start experimenting on my own, I want to ask for advice here:
What fruit do you feed your fish, and how do you prepare it before dropping it in the tank?

I did banana once. The clown loaches & barbs liked it ok but it was quite messy. Glad it was right before a water change. The sidthimunkis acted like it really irritated their barbels & frantically tried to wipe it off.

I have also tried apple, maybe twice, but I didn't see any fish try it & it didn't look nibbled.

My gouramis love oranges. I just slice a thin, round piece and let it float on the top. During the day they (and the mollies) have eaten out the entire middle. I also weight down a piece and the plecos, and shark eat one as well! There is no mess and the bottom dwellers eat the peel as well.

I am a sissy mary when it comes to trying new things, so maybe don't listen to me, but I would imagine all the simple sugars in fruit woulnd't be so good for a fish tank, and citrus also has high levels of acids and oils in the skins, I woudn't try it. Maybe stick to veggies?
