What is a good freshwater aquarium book

Can anyone tell me a good aquarium book to purchase?

Also in keeping up with those who responded to my" Found your site to late" The remaing fish are doing well. MY one bala shark though is still heavily covered with Ich. His fungal problems are clearing up. The film on hie eyes are almost gone. I have added the Mardels Maracide the day before yesterdaY, and haven't done anything else except for the fungal treatment. Just hoping he makes it.
 
A great beginner book is You and Your Aquarium (You & Your) by D ick Mills but the only problem according to Amazon, it is out of print. But if you can find a used book store, you maybe able to find yourself a copy of this book. I find this book an easy read and it explains not just freshwater but also Saltwater. It hits alot of the begining topics of diseases, types of fish (cold, tropical, sw -tropical and coldwater). The is a very broad book but still extremely helpful a must for everyone's collection.

god, i hate to say it...but every aquarium book i've ever seen pales in comparison to the power of the internet. i would say save your money and just read lots of articles and profiles on here and other sites. google it up for fish you want. search through the forums if you have questions. personally, i've found out so much more from AC and various other scattered sites throughout the internet than any single book could teach me and in a much more efficient manner. it's information on demand.
 
The Simple Guide to... series has a book for FW tanks that is very good. My only complaint is that is does not cover fishless cycling. Otherwise, it is a good introduction to hardware, setup, and maintenance, and has some decent stocking guides.

It still make's for a nice reference book.

gazillions of fish pics and decriptions.
plants/ chemistry/ etc.

around $40 - $50 US

I agree with dethjam about plain 'ol info.

the way the technology was advanceing... kind of like computers, I gave up on buying book's. And started with magazine subscription's and now with the internet, I probably won't be resubscribing to any of them either.
 
I still doesn't hurt to have at least one good reference book in your home library. Especially if you don't have access to the internet... for whatever reason.

"The Simple Guide to Freshwater Aquariums" is a good book. I found this book very helpful when I first started out, but you can get a lot of good information from the Internet.
