Ok over the past two weeks some strange things have happened in my tank.

First my mushrooms have begun to shrivel up and die.

Second my Flame Hawk decided he liked the outside of my tank better than being in the tank.

The mushrooms bother me more than the flame hawk that could just be coincidence that it happened at the same time. All my tank readings are within normal parameters.

Any ideas?

How old are the lights? Anything moving around? Have you checked the tank at night to make sure a coral isn't expanding it's territory and hitting the shrooms with sweepers?

I will have to check and see if the Frog Spawn can reach the mushrooms, but the shrooms all over the tank are exhibiting this behavior.

The actinic bulbs are probably 6-9 months old. And the 400 20K bulbs are about 5 months old.

I should also point out that all other corals: frogspawn, candycane, green bubble, and hammer are doing great.

Also the Carpet Anenome is still doing great and has grown 1 inch from June to Dec and looks great right now.

Hmmm--I'd definitely watch the frog spawn and the hammer, as they sometimes have really long sweepers. The actinics might be getting a bit old, but it's unlikely that would make the shrink up--usually lower lighting makes them expand.

Any chance of a parasite being introduced? Not many that target corals, but a slim chance.

Figured as much, just thought it would be worth mentioning. Parasites usually show up pretty quickly after introduction.

Ok I repositioned things and did a 10% water change earlier and will do another 10% later tonight or in the Morning. Will watch to see if this helps. Might be somthing in the water I am not/can not test for.

Just kinda strange that the Mushrooms are showing symptoms of distress but the anenome that is even more sensitive to water quality looks great.
