It looks like light colored volcanic rock. Can regular lava rock be used instead? Looking at doing a 150gal african tank so I'm going to need a ton of it. Do lanscaping places usually sell this stuff?

Lace rock is of volcanic origin...I get mine at the landscape rock place near me...just wash it up....much cheaper and more variety of shapes and sizes...its in my 90g mbuna tank and looks great! I get all my tank rocks there. You just want to make sure that you don't get a variety of rock/mineral that will negatively alter your tank chemistry.
Do they have the bigger pieces like fish stores have? I've been looking online and the only thing I can find in bulk is the lanscaping type, small crushed pieces.
