I've been setting my a 20 gl freshwater tank to receive some dwarf puffers. I got 3 of them yesterday, installed them in their new home and feeded them brine shrimp. Two arw very active and feeding agressively, but the third seems a little sick.

The problem is that looking at pictures, and internet info, I've not been able to verify their species, so here is a picture. Hope someone can shed some light on my darkened head.

Edit: the sick one is in the middle top. He lies in the bottom, swims a little and then lies again in the gravel. Doesn't go sideways or upside down, he is perfectly level. His mouth has 2 relatively big teeth in the lower jaw, so he got named Teeth.

Thanks in advance.

That's exactly why I was so worried. They won't look nothing like the dwarves I've seen.

Well, seems like it's my time to go salty.

I have had spooted puffer/red eye puffer and had them in fresh water
probably 6months. Never had a prob.

ive had my 2 GSP's in freshwater too, for about 8 months, but dooing this will also make them more prone to disease and in the wild as adults they move to saltier conditions

Why did I trust the LFS?? Now they say those are freshwater fish, cause there is a picture in Dr. Axelrod's FW Fish Atlas. Too bad that in the same page of the book, there is a Monodactilus, an Archer fish and turning the page I found various mudskippers. There is no reference to brackish water in those pages, so that's FW for them.

Well, I got a bag of salt and an hidrometer, so I will turn the tank slowly into light BW, as recommended in the puffer forum. These fish have been kept in FW for I don't know how long, so I'll do things slowly.

Thanks a lot for your help. In the near future, I'll be looking for a bigger tank or a better home for those fish.
