So I have a 2.5g hex set up with 1 male beta in it and several live plants with plenty of lights.

The last Week I have noticed 2 small "balls" about the size of a quarter one is maybe a little larger. they are bright green and look like a plant or an algae.

they look like those moss balls that people buy in the pet store sorta.

The only plants I have in this tank are java fern, and crypts.

What is it and where did it come from??

here are some crappy pics

BTW this tank is clean.. it looks like crap with my phone camera though

anyone know? ill give it 1 more try before I go to sleep

It looks like a marimo ball, but if it is, that is the fastest growing marimo ball in history!! :) No clue unless it is hair algae, but I have never seen hair algae grow in a spherical formation. Weird!!
