Being in the health care field I can tell you that it is not as easy as it sounds to get somebody into treatment, you can't force them, unfortunately some people need to be forced :(

It's a possibility she suffers something similar to what I do. Though I wouldn't think I could do that to any person, I know there've been times I was afraid I'd go over the edge. Thank God for those little purple pills!

I've had drivers swerve at me while riding the bike. I've been intentionally run off the road twice. Having a motor vehicle aiming at you isn't a fun experience. I feel there shouldn't be a vehicular assault charge, that's rediculous! It should be attempted murder, plain and simple. How can you determine if you are going kill someone with a car or just injure them??? An attempted murder charge will get the process rolling for any treatments that are needed!!

From the last I read this morning she is getting 3 attempted murder charges against her. And possible murder, depending on how the boy in the hospital turns out.

What I said was made in a very jocular tone... and I said that because of how many young people act to older individuals or the plain hell some go through because a teen wanted to have “fun”. And we wonder why this lady ran these kids over?

Yes – of course it was a nutcase behind the wheel. But my joke (or the irony) in this thread was, how many times have you mumbled to yourself “man I’d like to run those kids over” or “I’d like to ring their necks”, etc etc. Nobody likes to read about someone running kids over, but it makes you wonder how many other people would do the very same thing. IT WAS A JOKE. :bowing:

I hope they stick and aren't plea bargained down to assault charges!! Someone like that needs to be away from society for a while :rolleyes:

Brent Woolbright of the St. Johns County Public Defender's Office said he was assigned Allen's case Monday and was trying to get all the facts.

"I talked to her, and her story is a little different that what was reported," he said.

Allen told the court she has mental problems.

In the event that someone makes an insanity plea, whatever treatment necessary to ratify the mental illness or whatever it's called should be the condition of 'freedom'.

They comitted a crime, but yes, we have to accept that there are people with chemical imbalances or psychological issues that caused them to behave the way they do. As a result, these people do not belong in the same prison as offenders who acted consciously, so to speak. However, they also must accept that while it's not just for us to lock them up with other criminals, it's not just for them to be allowed to exist as part of society in the same state in which they comitted the crime.

Possible lesson here....

Most of at one time or another have seen someone with blatant "road rage." So, could her case prove those "road ragers" out there really have some form of mental 'problems'?

I would say - yes. Even to the point of "aggressive" drivers.

(What really drives 'em nuts is when you laugh at them! edit:..or at least a big smile! :D :D )
