What kind is the catfish? Channel?! help he is getin big!

Forgot to add that he "im guessing" b/c they are there when i go to bed and not when i wake up...eating my fish! I was told he would be fine in a freshwater with other fish...i am new at this and have many difernt things in my tank barbs, red tail shark, guaramis, goldfish, cave fish a snail two albino clawed frogs, an otto and a puffer plus two angels....47 gallon tall rectangle type...

It looks like an albino channel catfish to me. I'd try and find him a new home as soon as possible.

I'd also be concerned about the puffer and the goldfish. Puffers are aggressive and generally don't do well with other species as well as most species need a brackish tank. What kind of puffer do you have? Goldfish require colder water conditions than the tropicals you have them with, on top of the fact they will get too big for your 47. A fancy goldfish or two with nothing else would be ok in a tank that size (they get bigger than a softball), but a comet (like a regular feeder fish) will get over a foot long and be very cramped.

wow , overstocked, but that channel cat will soon take care of that, He's going to get very big and eat everything that fits into his mouth. Which by the way is as wide as his head. And yes they are nocturnal fish and good hunters too. I agree with the others, bad combo with the puffers and other fish, plus the goldfish. You are going to have lots of problems in the future. The angels will get large and will be crowded with all those fish.

Thats a channel cat, and its going to get way bigger than your tank can hold! I would rehome it as quickly as possible, then you will have the following options:

1. Keep the goldfish (if its a fancy, the comet and common goldfish will get cramped in that tank) and maybe get one or two more fancies. Get rid of everything else except the snails.

2. Keep the barbs (if they're not tiger barbs, they can get nippy), red tail shark, gourami, and ottos. Get rid of everything else except the snails.

3. Keep the angels, red tail shark, and barbs (if they're not tiger barbs, they'll tear up the angel's fins). Get rid of everything else except the snails (don't keep the ottos since when the angel gets big enough, they will eat them). Also, if you happened to get a male and a female angel and they paired up, its fine to keep them together. If you got two females or two males or they won't pair up, you might run into aggression issues.

4. Keep the clawed frogs, maybe the red tail shark, maybe the barbs, and the snail. Get rid of everything else.

Also, in the choices where you can keep the oto, I would get some more otos (2 or 3), since they enjoy company.

Thanks alot for the help. I have alot of friends who have tanks so it shouldnt be a problem finding him a home. I just wish i had been informed when i got him and not got attached to him. If you can do that with fish..get attached... Anyway, i guess im gonna have to get rid of my gold fish..they are fancy.. My black moore tho is one i am worried about...he eye is gettin worse, but he is swiming fine. I dont know what else to do, i treated for two weeks. Is there such thing as ending his suffering. I have asked the store for help several time in "curing" him. :0( I am tryin my best to keep him well and he is in a tank bu himself so he can be at peace and not have to move out of the way of any other fish.
