it can be kinda hard to find good pictures of mature cichlids on the net and to find out which ones grow humps. I think nuchal humps look great and i want to know which cichlids grow them. Is it found only in african cichilds or south americans or central americans or do all cichlids grow them?

thanks guys. ive never seen a convict with a hump, thats awsome because i just got another convict today, hes a pink convict. although i wish he was a female so that i try to get a mate for my blue male, but my blue convict is not mature yet anyway so i stil have plenty of time to find a woman for him. I love frontosas, im gona see if the guy at my lfs can find me one.

lots of cichlids develope nuchal humps. synspilum, most midas types (citrinellus, labiatus, zaliosus, amarillo, sp. chancho, xilaoensis, etc.), trimac (not much of one though), festae (again, not much of one), haitiensis, ramsdeni, most Herichthys (some larger than others--cyanoguttatus probably grows the largest of this group), most Cryptoheros (convict, sajica, spilurum etc. but some grow very small nuchal humps like honduran red points and nanoluteus), dovii, grammodes, some geophagus, peacock bass etc. :)

frontosa are incredibly beautiful and males can grow rather large humps. one thing about them though...it is possible to keep a single frontosa, but they'll do much better in a small colony of 6-8 with 2 males and 4-6 females. they can be kept individually but will thrive much better in colonies. :)
