Help? I have recently bought an eel from a shop which has now closed down. I can not remember the species or name of this eel. Any help or advice would me much appreciated?

It looks like a Macrognathus siamensis, (known commonly as a Peacock Eel, though it's not actually an eel).
yep, as Raskolnikov said, defineatly a peacock eel. It's a member of the Spiny Eel family, which aren't really eels. (Real eels lack backbones, or at least i'm pretty sure they do)
