yo, ppls! :hi: my ghost shrimp keeps swimming up and down the sides of the tank, and looks like he is doing something, but I can't tell what. every other ghost shrimp i've ever had just walked around slowly on the bottom, sifting through the detritus for anything organic. he may be trying to grab at algae on the sides of the tank, but I don't know this for certian. has anyone experienced this with ghosts before, and can tell me what he's doing? (P.S. can you refer me a good summaratical article on ghost shrimp?)

my shrimp do this alot, when i put in food they always start swimming up and down the glass trying to catch food, nothing to worry about

phew, good. i've just never seen a ghost shrimp do this afore.

I've never really payed much attention to the ghost shrimp I buy. I just put them in a 5gal until I feed them to my turtle and angels. I do keep cherry red shrimp and they are constantly swimming around.

We have one large ghost shrimp in our planted 20gal. At least a couple evenings a week we're treated to "shrimp ballet". He'll come wandering out of the plants, pose for a time on top of the rock cave, then preceed to swim aaaaaaalll over the tank, often cutting across it directly, sometimes wandering up and down a wall, landing briefly on a plant leaf and waving his legs about excitedly then launching off for another slow stately swim down the length of the tank. Quite silly, really. If it goes on for too long, our dwarf gourami will chase him down and force him back into the plants.

My ghost shrimp dance along the glass quite a bit. They are all well-fed and healthy, molting and growing. The bigger/older ones have even learned to turn themselves upside-down at the surface to catch flakes!

Pretty entertaining for critters that cost barely more than a quarter each, huh?

yeah, I love my little shrimpy. they must be very smart if they can learn to catch flakes from the surface!

i got me some too on wednesday. At home i played the counting game. i gought six, but counted seven all sudden i count eight. They drive me crazy. The biggest one has a black spot on his side, he swims up and down too.
But how did you pay? A quarter??? wow they sell them where i buy for 13 cents.

yeah, I got mine for 25c each at wal-mart.
