I have a 55 gallon tank with stock lighting, 40 watts. I have regular gravel substrate with a little added laterite. I started with one red cryptocoryne wendtii and now it grew into 5 separate plants. It is doing great! I also have 3 java ferns attached to driftwood and they started growing little daughter plants on the leaves. I add leaf zone liquid iron supplement. I don't use co2 or fancy chemicals. I have a plecostomas, a festivum, severum, and angelfish.
I want to get more plants, because they seem to slow down the algae growth on the large rocks. I was thinking about anubias and some tall sword plant. Would these plants grow in stock lighting? I can get some rich substrate for the sword plant. I just want a tall plant that will hide the filter, that grows in very low lighting, with no co2, and will not get eaten by cichlids.
Thanks.
