What Sand!?

I use poolfilter sand

I am using poolfilter sand and it looks OUTSTANDING

the grains are all uniform (unlike playsang) and it looks more natural than play sand IMO

I have my tank set up to look like a river or lake bottom and it is great

whoever said it is dirty at first was VERY right

I woudl suggest a waterchange 48 hours after you put the water in and when you poor it in, pour it into a bowl the first few times to not stir up the sand

the looks and price of the pool sand are well worth it

oh...and black sand is gorgeous, no disrespecting the black sand

latazyo- as he says, there is no home depot, no pool stores, and no sand blasting stuff around.

but otherwise id agree with you. very nice sand.

What are you Jamacian? :D

I would use pool filter sand but I can't find a store that carries it... Hence my problem, again...

I called Bigals on the price it would be for them to ship a 15lb bag of Seachem's Onyx Sand, (Black,) and they told me it would be 7.79 a bag, based on where I live. I live in Mivchigan, about 5 hours up from Cincinatti and about a half hour from the (canadian) border. They said there was no way I could pick up the sand.

Flourite is very nice, and of course you can grow plants well in it. It is a bit pricey, but if you print off the Petsmart online price, they will match it in store. Then you won't have to pay for shipping.
