This 15 gallon tall tank is on Craigslist right now for $40.00. The add says it is in excellent condition, has an undergravel filter, bubblewall, heater, thermostat, stand and canopy. I think it's cute but when I showed the pics to my husband I thought he was going to hurl. He asked me, "What would you do with THAT?" :irked: I don't have an answer to that question. Does anyone have any suggestions for this tank or is it really as ridiculous as my husband thinks?

Well, I sort of have the same problem. I got a 16g tall (think it was custom), and I can't find anything to go in there. Hubby thinks it's hideous 'cause of the fake oak trim at the top and bottom. I don't want to do schoolers 'cause I'm afraid they don't have enough swimming space laterally. I had a small goldfish in there until I started setting up my pond, but I had to sell him back to the LFS because he grew too quickly (I'm a procrastinator). Then I had some other small fish in there for a couple weeks until I got my 75g set up and ready to go.

What are the dimensions? Mine has a footprint of 12 inches by 12 inches, and 25 inches tall. So, it's very tall without much room at the bottom. If the one you are looking at is not quite as tall and has a longer footprint, I'd consider it.

But, IMHO, I would not do it. It's hard enough to stock a regular 15g, let alone a tall. Plus, if you don't like the looks of it anyway, you'll just end up regretting it.

She just emailed me back, she said it is 52 in tall (she had to be measuring the stand as well but the width is 13x13. She has mollies in the tank now, an albino cory cat and 1 ghost shrimp. I could move those fish to one of my other tanks... after a Google search I could only find a 15 tall with Kribensis cichlids and another one with a dwarf gourami & neon tetras. I'm still on the fence about this tank. It is quirky & cute but probably not worth it. I have to think about this one. Thanks for your opinion.

maybe a shrimp tank

That's a good option. Didn't think about inverts. That would make a great one, and wiht some tall driftwood, it could be pretty interesting. Nerite snails would make a good addition too.

i think it would make an awsome tank for like some kinda small lizard like anoles or a frog tank for like little treefrogs or dart frogs. the problem with these tall tanks like has been noted is that there isnt much you can put in them. it would make a nice tank for some inverts or maybe a betta although outside of that your options are really limited.

personally id rather spend the $40 on another tank as you can normally find bigger tanks for around that same price on craigslist or something like that.
