Well I started the fish thing in december, thanks for all those who helped. I bought ....

10 G Tank
36 watt light hood
Plants
2 Mystery snails
2 Dwarf Frogs
6 Guppies (3 male 3 females)

All of the Guppies died but 2, I don't know why the tank had excelent readings other than a low PH of about 6.4... One of the females died while pregnant :(.

Well the one female had some Babies (she was pregnant before I got her) I rescuded 7 of them (2 of them were conjoined twins at the tail and died when I tried to seperate) I think my favorite boy got flushed in a water change or disapeared Not sure cause I am careful and he had started to get color in only a few weeks!)

ADDED: 3 gallon eclipse for fry tank!

This makes 6 fry and 2 guppies left.

She then had more fry so I put the first 6 in the main tank (they are almost full grown now) She had 10 more Babies.

Well then she got Pregnant again I put her in fry tank few days before she delivered! So I put the 10 in the main tank (they are still fairly small but big enough)...

This time she had more babies than I can count! There must be like 50 of them in my 3 gallon eclipse tank.

Pet store said they would buy them off me when they are full grown but now both my tanks are overstocked and I don't know what to do untill then?

Also I have probably about 100 mystery snails, couple albinos! I dunno what to do with them either :(

I figured out 2 of Batch one are males and possibly 3 of them, one is getting a nice firey red, and the other's tail seems to change colors depending how the light hits it nice!

The truth is that you need to decide what you want. If you want to be a guppy breeder invest in multiple tanks and be prepared to cull (discard undesirable fish) a fair portion of the fry. Get a fish (and larger tank) that will enjoy the snacks. If you can't feed or dispose of the fish yourself consider offering them to others as feeders. Look for an ACA chapter in your area.

:( so I need to kill most of the babies? Just guess which ones will be better than others and throw them in the trash?

I don't really have any more space for more tanks unfortunately. Unless I start stacking them on the ground!

I do have a tank full of newts, firebelly toads and a california toad, not sure if I can jsut feed them to them or how big they need to be before they are worthy food?

I think you could fit quite a few guppies in a 10 gal if you filter it heavily and do frequent water changes.
Sell the babies or give them away as soon as they are old enough.
You might consider a divider in the tank to seperate the males/females.
You might also leave the fry in the tank after she has them. Some of them will hide in plants and survive and the weaker ones will get eaten.

well there are about 20 guppies in my 10 gal planted right now with whisper 10i filter...

Theres about 40 Fry in my eclipse 3 gallon they are less than a week old.

How much would upgrading my 10L gallon to tank that is the same size but taller help? I think I can go up a little. I already invested in a PC light for the tank so I would like to reuse it...So I think I am a little limited.

I cleaned the tank tonight and I can't find my oto! I hope he is hiding...

bump? would switching to a taller tank help at all?

wow that's nuts! now I remember why I don't get guppies ;)

seriously though, it sounds like you may need to leave the fry in the tank with the parents next time. they will help keep the numbers of babies down to a more manageable level.

a 29 gallon tank would help if you were to upgrade. then you might be able to add a fish or 2 that will eat some more of the babies and maybe add something that will control your population of snails (I remember why I don't get snails now too! :joke: ). basically I tihnk with a bigger setup you could add some fish that will help you control your guppy nd snail populations. the more experienced keepers here might be able to help you decide which fish would do well in that role better than I can though ;)

good luck!
