I have a 55G that is about to be vacant and am trying to figure out what to do next with it. Id like it to be a bit of show tank and really don’t want to fill it up with the standard run of the mill stuff. (Guppies, Tetras, etc.) I have been considering either:

1. a single Oscar.
2. A Lake Malawi theme tank (Not sure if it is big enough?)
3. Possible a native Wisconsin species tank. (Possible a Bluegill?)
4. a single or two Piranha
5. Oddball fish (Possibly some type of Bush fish, smaller Bichir, etc.)
6. Try my hand at saltwater.

Any thoughts?

I'd put in an oscar and a few other smaller new world cichlids.EG:convict, firemouth, green terror,ect........

Personally, I'm a fan of loaches, blood red parrots (but I know a lot of people are against those), and black ghost knives. But the lake malawi theme sounds cool.

good thing everyone who posted suggested something different. listen, i'll help you out. . . let me take it off your hands

::closes eyes, crosses fingers, and hopes you agree::

BWWAAAA!!! Watuagachicken beat me to it.
Poor thing, you shouldn't have to struggle with those kind of decisions...just send it to Meeeee!!!

Just don't do the oscar.....IMO too small.....but try the piranhas, you can have three red bellies in there, but don't have two....make it one or three if you do....or an altuvei or irritan would be perfect....*drool*......
