I know this topic has probably been beaten to death and I did a search but only found a few results. I'm getting red claw crabs when my tank is cycled, just wondering what food they eat. I know they need a wide range of food. Is live or freeze dried food really neccesary? I'd like to avoid them as they are very expensive. I was thinking shrimp or kryll pellets and veggies would be enough but not sure...

I don't have crabs, but I do have crays. Mine eat anything from the frozen foods, to shrimp pellets, to flake food, to crushed snails. I expect that the crabs would eat the same.

Go to the supermarket and get a bag of shrimp then freeze it. Feed them sinking pellets mostly and use the shrimp as a treat, mine loved it. They also love veggies like carrots and celery.

I have crays. I also have an overload of bladder snails. So I can feed my crays crushed snails? That is good to know. Thanks. I was thinking of selling some here but apparently I could use them myself.
