Don’t know the kind of betta but it is certainly a male.
Don’t know about the graying out but if I were a fish and were placed in that color palette (gravel and ornaments), I too would gray out.
Seriously however, the water looks cloudy as if there is a bacterial bloom. Something is off with maintenance, such as over feeding or insufficient water changes. That should be easy to fix. Good luck!
Are they in the same tank? Is the tank heated and does it have a filter? Both bettas are male veil tail bettas. The one that’s grayish is stressed and could be from lack of a heater in the tank.
