what type of corals could i keep in my 75 gallon if i were able to place them halfway up the tank? i dont have strong lighting, just 2x65watt power compact. decent water flow.

what about button polyps? if i placed them somewhat towards teh surface?

You can give them a shot. I have some in a pretty shady spot and they are growing. They probably won't be as colorful, but they will probably be OK.

Mushrooms, Polyps, Bubble corals would all work. Also think about some of the sponges. An Orange or red tree sponge would work and add color.

thanx guys. does placeing the corals toward the top really make a difference or no?

Depends on the Coral. Some like more light some less. Flow is also important for most corals. Once again, some like more and some like less. One of the problems is like fish, corals do not read our books. There can be generalized about, but then the exception shows up.

so in theory, with the proper flow and water conditions, i could keep a high light coral a few inches from the surface? does leaving the light on for longer periods of time help as well? not saying im going to do this, im just curious how it works

To an extent. Some lights will not put out intense enough light for certain corals, no matter how close they are to the lights, and regardless of how long the lights are on.
