Hello everyone, I'm looking forward to get a Laptop for college use!

Also use for entertainment and gaming as well! I know a good laptop is one that has 4 gb of RAM memory to process information faster, more gigabytes the more space, and erm....ehh what else??? lol

Note that I don't know anything about computer parts that well.

Well kay, I want one that is good for entertainment, DVD/CD reader and burner, Windows XP,and gaming! lol one laptop that also has the capability to hook up to HDTV! What cable is that?

This is what i want in a laptop...

4GB of RAM
500 GB
Printer cable output
Sound cable output
TV output
USB's
...?
...?

Anything else important? Any laptop trends or anything new coming out? I need to know, I'm anxious to buy one. I want the right one that will suit me well.

Tell me a good laptop just for my room!!

I've only ever had the one i have now, a toshiba. I've had it about 18 months and in that time the case has cracked just above hinges so i sent it back and two weeks after getting it back the screan went wrong. I'm not saying it's a bad brand but i won't be buying another one.

I don't know anything about PCs, but I recommend a MacBook

About mine: Never breaks or needs any repair, awesome customer service (not over seas), very light and easy to transport, stylish as heck, built in webcam, bluetooths with everything, fast too, doesn't get insanely hot, never freezes/needs a random reboot, and Apple always has a deal where you can get a free printer and/or ipod or itunes...It's just a great user friendly computer that works very well.

I have the MacbookPro, its not what you want.....

I'll leave it at that.

Hmm...

Laptops are very convenient, but you get a lot more bang for your buck with a desktop computer. I would look at getting a decent desktop for your printing, gaming, and DVD watching needs and then just get a low-end laptop for portable internet/ word processor access. The two together will probably cost less than a high-end laptop by itself, and will be more use to you.

Just my 2¢.

Yes but a desktop pc takes up space that you could use to set up another fish tank.

you seem to be more recreation-minded about the specs for your computer.. so you might want to look into systems built for gaming. you can look at the Alienware line, but beware, you will pay a pretty penny for a machine built by them.

Dell is good.. we used their laptops when i was in the navy, and they never gave us any problems. :)
