I am new to the fish world. I was given 2 120gl fish tanks and a few fish, which have now turned into MANY fish. I have a filter system that I have no clue about. I was given no tips on what to do or how to take care of these fish, but I just cant let them die, so Im here to find out just what I need to do :) I was left no paperwork on the filter stuff I have, so all I have to go by is whats written on the stuff, If you know what any of the following are, or even could maybe be please let me know. Like I said all i know is whats written on the stuff, Penn-plax cascade, Fluval 403, omnifilter, Tetratec deep water, Ultra flow 200, Regent aqua teck 200?? I would also like to know where in the world all these snails came from??? They were not there when the take was set up and it wasnt until about a month after that they came. I would like them not to be part of my tank, but if its just part of having fish then I guess I will have them stay. I would also like to maybe add some colorful fish to my tank, or just some other kind. Im not sure if it matters or not that About 4months ago I started with 8 fish and now I have too many to count, I have noticed that some swim funny, kind of like when a dog chases its tail, well they same thing but only with swimming????? I wonder if maybe something is wrong with those ones? I would like to know what fish would get along with the ones I have now, Im including some pictures, since I have no clue their names. I know I may sound stupied with these questions, but really I had no knowlage of fish before I was just given the responsibility to care for these living things. But now I have them and Its up to me to make sure they are happy and health, the same as anyother living thing. So please send as much help as you are able to give, I will take it all. Thank you so very much for your time and help in teaching me how to be a good fish mommy :help:

IM having so much trouble trying to find the snails you are refering to lol.

Molly-

In the 3rd pic, it looks as if those are Giant Danios (along with the Plec) are those the ones swimming around chasing their tails? Normal behaviour! Normall up at the water surface, swimming around all day.

Snails-have you added any plants recently (noticed some in the pics) Pond snails will hitch-hike on new plants. Pain in the butt!

nice looking pleco.

i also have just found 2 snails in my tank... then i go to rinse the filter media and it was covered???? no idea where they came from! nothing but fake plants, and NOTHING has been added to the tank in a LONG time

Have you been doing regular water changes and gravel vacs?

Do you have water test kits for checking your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

nice tank, gotta see more pics :) as for the snails...I'd say any new plants are likely the cause
