It looks like my treatment for ich disabled my biofilter somewhat.

This morning my test readings were:

Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 1.0

My LFS does not sell Bio-Spira and neither does petsmart. Any ideas on how to get this quick.

AquariumPlants.com sells it

That's the only company I've found online that I can recommend and I've only found one other site that sold it.

I've bought quite a few great plants from them. Speedy and reliable, but trying to talk to anyone there is non-existent. I've not had a problem with my plants, was just trying to find out if a certain plant would be in and when and have had no reply to emails or phone calls. They might pay attention more if I had an actual "problem" to discuss.

I bought my entire CO2 system from them as well, though I'm still waiting for the tanks to get here ***

Even with that, I'd buy Bio Spira from them lickety-split.

*** the cost of a full, brand new tank and the shipping was actually CHEAPER than buying a tank locally. Couldn't believe it!

I've never tried bio-spira, but I recently found out that if you have questions for someone at Aquariumplants.com, you can post them at Plantgeek.com and you will get an answer there.

I bought a hydrometer just to double check my salt dosage and I got shocked. It said that my tank had a specific gravity of 1.010 which is a higher salt concentration tank the fish's blood  I brought it back down to 1.003 specific gravity higher than my tap water so I hope the biofilter restarts now that things are normal. I have no idea how I could overdose on salt but maybe I used a tablespoon measure as a teaspoon.

Only one fish died as a consequence either to the ich or the high salt. The rest are doing fine and I only see ich spots on 2 fish. The fish I posted had all his ich spots fall off already.

just called my LFS...

They have it!

Large is $25.00

Now just have to determine if I want to spend the money on it yet as the tank is a 55 Gal with NOTHING but water and a bit of muck from my 25 gal, or if I want to spend the money on the appropriate things needed like gravel! LOL

I think the Gravel/Substrate will win out! bare tank looks really ugle!

bio spira

yhe lighthouse .com has bio spira cheap 8.95n and they ship it with ice packs

Looks like I will not be needing Bio-Spira  my bio-filter seems to be restarting.

Ammonia: 0.0
Nitrite: 0.75 (A little bit lower than yesterday's evening's test of 1.0)

Thank goodness the ammonia eaters are back to work since they were my main worry. The salt will deal with the Nitrite while the Nitrite eaters return to work.

As for the ich: I only see two spots on one fish all the other spots have dissapeared. Looks like the treatment is working :) The spots are not re-appearing so the emerging tomites must be meeting their grave (Good Job Salt)
