Where do you buy your bettas?

Try bettysplendens.com. Shipping may be cheaper than aquabid, not sure.

I agree ^
Her betta fish are amazing :)
But make sure you check out her DOA policy, etc.
And I think she is away right now or something...
Good luck :)

Interestingly, my local WAL*MART doesn't carry ANY bettas! I've looked at the bettysplendens site... I should check it out again.

From our lfs in Forest Lake, MN....the only place we get fish....I got my latest betta from there....

not true. yes they sell deltas, but they also sell halfmoons. Maybe it depends on the location as far as what stock they get in, but I have seen full halfmoons at my local petco.

I know they sell fish labeled as "halmoons" but when looked over, they clearly are not up to standard definition of a halfmoon, at least in my area.

I think your best bet would be finding one at your local pet store. Most of the ones ive seen online were extremely expensive when you add in shipping. You will definitely get your moneys worth, but not everyone is willing to put up the cash for it(myself included lol).

Heres a place that has some really nice fish. Theyre very selective so theyre stock isnt consistent, but ive seen some absolutely amazing fish on there over the years(my ex loved Bettas so i kept my eye out for nice ones). They might not have what you want but keep checking their marketplace. I cant afford most of them so i just like to look every once in a while lol

I almost bought a perky little white veiltail at a fish store in the area today. He wasn't as magnificent as the ones I've been coveting, but he was interactive and cute... and in my price range. I was really sad to leave him there in that awful cup of blue water. :'(

Yeah, I think I'm too poor to buy a fancy one online. I'll have to keep prowling my local stores.

Oh, and I've been using something called Stability to help establish my tank (at the recommendation of the dude at the aquariums-only store), and my ammonia and nitrite have been ZERO, even though I've only been running the tank for a four days. Do I dare add a betta??

Tank not cycled until you have nitrate readings, a betta could live through a cycling, but you would have to do a lot of water changes and he might get fin rot.
