Hi, I understand this fish with good gene can be extremely colorful and hardy, but with bad genes, they have pale coloring or almost all grey, which is the case at my local fish store.

So I am wondering where is a good place bo purchase them? I am looking for a store that will send them as pairs, about 1 to 1.5 inches and reasonable price.

One more question, will these eat my shrimps?

Thanks a lot.

You might want to wait and watch. My lfs gets in batches that are VERY colorful, and others that are very plain.

Also, reguardless of color, some rams seem very hardy and easy to keep, and others are frail and don't aclimate well.

My water chemistry is less than ideal for them, and I lost three in trying to get a pair. The pair I have is one extremely colorful male, and one extremely plain female, but since they are healthy and happy, I am satisfied with them.

Mine don't show any agression toward my shrimp, or anything else. Don't let the fact that they're cichlids fool you...rams are a peaceful fish, although they sometimes get a little testy with each other.

Well...lol...I have a tank full of german blue rams...but if I were to ship them to you it wouldn't be very "reasonable"...lol. I had checked into shipping some bettas I had bred...and the cheapest I could come up with for overnight shipping was about 30$...that's just for the shipping charge...not including the box and packing.

Hope you can find some in your area because they are a great fish ! I have a pic of some of my rams on the site I have linked to in my signature if you want to check them out.
