Which 100+ gal tank should I buy?

option B and haggle the price down to no more than $200.

option A is the haggling price. he's not in a hurry to get rid of the tank, he just doesn't feel the need to have it anymore. Option B won't drop. I really don't feel like being any more patient since tanks this size aren't very commonly up for sale in BFE, MO

and the sump seems like a good idea to keep the heaters and filters hidden. I'll have to read up on that in the morning

alright, i went and took a look at the 135 gal. It's exactly what i want, BUT i have one major concern. It has 3 chips on the edges. they can be hidden in the back, but they still make me a bit nervous. they aren't very deep, they don't even go halfway though the sheet of glass and are not near the silicone seal. of course, before i give the guy money, i'll have him fill it, so i know it holds water currently, but...

is this an issue i need to worry about?

pics of damage?

Nice good luck on whichever one you go with :) I just found a 125 salt water with everything rock sand equip fish and all equipment for 1k very healthy tank Ive seen it in action. If I decide to go with this one I am going to take what i need from it and set it up as a smaller reef in my 36 and set the 125 as a large planted tank.

I don't have an actual pic, and surprisingly, it's hard to find a similar pic online, but this one is kind of close. they're on the very edge of the glass, and not even halfway to the silicon.

and i wish i could take both lol, but these things aren't free :(

Personally I'd worry more about cracks then chips. My 60g tank has chips like that and worse all over the place (granted the glass on the 60g is thicker then some 100g+ tanks ).

I'd say always go with the bigger footprint. Filtration would depend on what you use it for, but since this is in General Freshwater I'll assume you want to set up a freshwater tank. I wouldn't trust a HOB to give good circulation on that size tank. A AC110 may be rated for 110g, but that doesn't mean it is a good choice for one. Canister or sump for a tank that size. Or powerheads pointed at the HOB, but then you just get a canister for the same price.

Wouldn't worry too much about the chips, as others have said. The deal sealer for me would be the name 'Oceanic', I have had a 58 running for mostly 18 years, that old they were built for stout. I think they are owned by another firm nowadays, but if they kept the old quality you should be good to go. Envious of the 135, Good luck.
