i have a small r/o water filter that hooks up to my sink. i have been using it for my sw tank, but it take @2-1/2 hrs to get 5 gals. so, in a pinch, is there any reliable brand of the 5 gal. jugs from the grocery stores? are any of them r/o?
thanks!

If I'm correct, most 1 gallon store brand drinking/purified water is R/O water. Check labels, some add minerals and such.

Better off going with RO/DI than any off the shelf "purified" water. Do any of your LFS's sell fresh RO/DI? I get mine around here for $0.26/gallon so it's cheaper to boot. Get a 5 gallon jug or bucket and you're all set (assuming you trust the LFS to provide good water).

Edit: the other option is to just keep filling som extra jugs with your RO/DI filter.

Most large grocery stores have 5g jugs and RO dispensors that sell water for about 30cents a gallon. Purified water is definitely not the same as distilled or RO water.

i've tried to read the labels, but have yet to find one in the 5 gal. that says how it's filtered. the lfs gets $12 for 5 gal, making my little filter worth the wait!
thanks all!

I was just going by the ones in the store labeled "filtered using reverse osmosis." Usually that's how the ones labeled purified or drinking are marked.
