Ok, I'm back. I am going to be settinng up my 37 gallon eclipse system in a few weeks. I thought I'd try cichlids, but they sound like they might be a little too complicated for me and most of them get too big for my tank. So, I'm back asking which fish should I put in my 37 gallon? I'm looking for a variety of peaceful fish that will be fun to have and are easy to care for.

Thanks!

You might want to try some Rams, kribs or Apistogramma. They all stay pretty small. However, with rams and kribs you can only keep 1 or 2 pairs because they can become aggressive once there are fry or eggs in the tank.

YOu can do 3 or 4 various species of gourami with a group of smaller cories for bottom cleaners and some smaller schooling fish could be nice.

Three or four angels, cories and a group of some type of tetra..not too small or the angels will eat them.

Blue rams are always a nice addition to any planted community....a pair of those with some cories and a group of schoolers would be nice...with a larger size gourami to use the mid to upper area of the tank. The rams hang mostly towards the mid to bottom end.

If you want to keep more Rams you could try get all Females i suppose..

I would be careful getting all females. They can be just as mean, if not more so then the males. I had to remove the female from my last pairing because she decided she didn't like the male anymore. She did a number on him, poor guy.

Females can be really nasty to each other. The best bet if you want rams is to get an established pair. If you watch them at the lfs, try and look for a male and female that stay near each other and pick them if they look healthy and alert. If they've been at the store long enough, pairs will form.
