I'm thinking about putting 1 or 2 african dwarf frogs in a one gallon nano tank. I'm not going to have any lighting over it, but I'd like one or two plants to decorate the plant. Are there any plants that can grow, basically, without light? Annubias or anacharis? Java fern? Or will those also die without light?

Thanks for your help.

I don't believe any plants can live without any light.

If you used a low light plant in a tank that caught indirect sunlight from a window, then you may be able to grow a few low light species.

Yeah, I meant that I won't be supplementing any light; the small tank will only get indirect sunlight from the sun.

my banana plant grew very well while my light was broken for about a month, but I was using ferts though

java moss requires alot of light to be bright green. i have used the sun light method in a betta tank and the moss was always green and growing.

i tried one of those silly 15 watt lights and didnt get much growth and most of it turned brown.

Thanks for your help. I don't think I can get java moss around here though...

Do you guys think annubias woudl work?
