like South American VS African? i am not planning on having any fish fights i swere! it is just i have been hearing different things from petco employees and people on this site. so i just want to be clear about it once and for all. so which ones are more agressive?

I personally think that it would have to be south africans but thats just from experience.

There's a huge difference between aggression and brute force belligerence <sp>. While the africans tend to be really aggressive. SA/CA have the brute force to back up their belligerence.

Tops on my list is the Black Nasty or Odo - Nandopsis haitiensis. They can't be kept together even as small fish. At 2" they have to be kept separately otherwise they'll kill each other. I have 4 and each has its own 10 gallon tank. The tanks are adjacent to each other and they try to get at each other through the glass.

Dovii, festae, umbies are others that come to mind.

Butterkofferi are outright mean as well.

how about electric yellow africans? what are they like?

now granted the dovi that can be a nasty little bugger, You cant count out the red devils or the jaguar either those can get nasty as well

yea wolf dovii would be on top -oh for the ones i have- my 9cm obi zebra female - phycho killed my 20cm red zebra (which wasn't a wuss either)

if i got a jag, would it kill my socolofi and E. Yellows? i haven't got the yellows yet. should i not get them and just get the jag? this is for a 75 gal. its only tank mates then would be the albino socolofi and pleco.

Most likely, yes. You shouldn't mix different types of cichlids. ;)
