I'm planning on getting another tank soon, and I'm thinking about either a 29 or 37 gallon tank. That's the largest footprint I can fit in my tiny bedroom. Here's what I say are the positives and the negatives.

Positives of the 37 Gallon
Larger volume=less chance of ammonia poisoning
Fits an angelfish even better than a 29 due to its height.
Potentially able to stock a few more fish.

Negatives of the 37 Gallon
Harder to clean because of deepness.
Harder to grow plants. (I'll need a really strong light.)

I hope to stock with an angelfish, tetras, and some kind of dwarf cichlid or cories.

What do you think? Which one should I go for?

29

For that stock wish, especially with the angel, I'd go with the 37. I agree that it's a hard tank to clean, but I think the extra height and room would be beneficial for the angel as well as the other fish you'd like.

Sounds like the general consensus is 37. I was leaning toward that anyway. How hard would it to grow low-medium light plants in it?

I'm not real sure. I think low light plants would be quite easy, especially if you stick with anubias and Java moss (both lived in a tank with no light, little ambient light for 6+ months and thrived!). There are others too, but I know both of those do great with little to no light.

I had bought a used 37g from hubby's cousin but never got a chance to set it up. I got it mainly for a spare/oh crap! tank, but when we moved I had to downsize my existing 4 tanks (one was Mom's) to just 2.

Okay well...I think I will somehow make it! :) haha Now I just have to nab one off of craigslist...too bad they aren't more common.

Thanks!
