Does anyone know if they are good algae eaters?

I have 3 twig cats (farlowella), and, yes, they do eat algae, but it is not their only food source. If you "google" twigs or farlowella, you can learn all about them. They are supposedly not good fish for beginners, not that you may or may not be a beginner. Good luck.

:iagree: A fairly sensitive fish and yes they will munch on algae but will need supplemental feeding as well.

Rineloricaria parva, Sturisoma panamense, L010a (Hemiloricaria sp.) and Farlowella gracilis usually pop up from time to time.

yeah, whiptails and twigs are different fish. Same long tail but different head.
