Whiskers???

i have a Dwarf puffer that scratching (rubbing on glass) itself .
Its growing 2 little strings on the bottom jaw just like a cat fish.
these dont look like parasites,they are a fuzzy looking string. What can it be?

Come out of the mouth? I would bet he has something caught in his teeth--they sometimes bite at things, then get them caught in the teeth and rub to get them off. If it gets longer, I'd worry--or it it looks to be coming out of the skin rather than the mouth.
