I have two white clouds - I'm pretty certain that the sleek one is a male, and the one that looks fat is a female.

Lately, the one that is a male (Dave) has been chasing the female (Vera) and flashing his fins big. I don't think she has eggs, her belly isn't dark, and she's always been a bit fat looking. Is he courting her? Should I be worried? I don't want to see this... that's a bit creepy, not to mention Chuck the betta will probably eat it.

Is she going to be stressed from this, or is it normal? Will Dave ever calm down?

Edit: Thanks for moving this to correct forum, mods! :)

This is normal behavior. The male has reached that age when he feels he needs to strut his stuff for the female and other males. The female, like in most species, will generally ignore the poor guy until she is in the "mood". Other males will attempt to show how big and tough they are in return.

WCMM are egg scatters so when they lay eggs it looks like they are doing a little dance around the bottom of the tank. I don't know if the betta will eat the eggs or the resulting fry but the WCMM's will not. If you have a lot of hiding spots (plants decorations) some of the fry may survive.

Just sit back and enjoy the dance. Dave will be dancing pretty constantly from now on.

Ah, poor little lady! lol.

i don't think she'll mind. its interesting to watch. i know the parents supposably don't eat the fry but i find once mine have mated i will get a few with the parents in the tank but twenty to fifty if i remove them. enjoy!
