So have any of you guys ever kept white cloud minnows? I was at the pet store and i can get little ones for 8 for $1. they said that they were feeder fish, then they had some that were bigger for $2.00-$2.50. Are there any difference between the big ones and the small ones?

also how do the interact with the other fish, will they nip the fins of my betta?

thanks all

they like cooler water, should be the same thing my LFS use danios as feeders and a few grew up, looked just fine. if you get a school of them they should hang out together.

I picked up 3 of them about 1" long a few months ago and am very happy. They act very similar to a zebra danio but never show any agression to anyone. Their color seems to darken and fade, not sure what that means, may be the lighting. I keep my tank around 74 degrees and have been up to around 78 and never had a problem. Kyle

thanks guys, the ones that im going to get are really small, the are about 1 cm long and can almost be hard to see. that is really cool that they are schooling fish cause thats what i want!

White clouds are cold water fish and need to be kept ideally at the low 70sF max. They require higher oxygen levels that cooler water can provide. Their colours are brilliant with a golden bronze body and bright red fins tipped in white. They can breed fairly easy if conditions are right so i guess they could be a feeder fish.

They work perfect with bettas and aren't really spastic or nippy like danios. They do a little posturing amoungst their group but are super peaceful. Keep them in groups of 5 minimum ideally.

If you keep your tank around room temp then a betta and they could be happy. Just make sure to do proper water changes. Live plants are also a great help.
