Hey guys on one of my tanks I have a white film that looks like lime buildup which I know its not. I have been using a ph buffer for about a week wondering if that could cause it and how to get it off the glass. I have used one of those magnets one that is on the outside and inside of tank that took care of alot of it but a little is still there. any help would be great.

Yes its on the inside of my tank and it is probally hard water deposits becuase my water is really hard do you know how I can get rid of it. Now that you say hard water deposits maybe I should soften the water. what do you guys think.

I think softening the water is usually a bad idea. I have hard water too and I simply live with it. A couple of things. When a hard water stain is wet, it usually isn't terribly visible. If these are on the inside of the tank it is likely because you are not keeping the water level up high enough on a consisitent basis. Simply top off the water now and again and this problem is likely to go away. If you do decide to remove the stains on the inside of the tank, a razor and some elbow grease are in order. I change water every 5-7 days in my tanks and on the second change I always use vinegar on the hard water deposits on the glass part of my aquarium top. Vinegar and some scrubbing remove these deposits as well. Be careful to make sure all of the vinegar is wiped away before reinstalling the top, as if it gets into your tank, it can screw up your chemistry. Best of luck.
