Hi guys, I just noticed white tiny things in my 2.5 gal tank with baby shrimp. They are mostly on the glass and they jump when I touch them with bamboo scewer. Are they harmless and where did they come from:huh:

Thanks Zigman, I looked up copepod and saw that some are parasitic:

"There are about 1,700 species of parasitic copepods infecting fish. Some parasitic copepod species share many of the morphological adaptations of their ancestral free-living counterparts. For example, the common sea lice, e.g. Lepeophtheirus spp., possess locomotory appendages and are able to move freely over the surface of the fish host and from fish to fish.
Other species are permanently anchored, some penetrating deeply into the tissues of their host. In such species, jointed appendages and external segmentation are greatly reduced and the adult organism loses virtually all of the diagnostic copepod features."

I am worried about my baby shrimp:confused:

They are harmless I have them in a shrimp tank as well. There probably in my other tanks too but I think the fish eat them.

Theyt are both of my shrimp tanks..
Havent found any evidence of them causing any harm.
They are very difficult to get rid of, I have done huge waterchanges, I have siphoned them out, and they just keep re appearing...
I stopped worrying about them...

I'd put one of my baby clown in there for a while, but I know he'd eat my little shrimp.
