I need someone's help. I have been looking all over for African Dwarf Frogs, but I've only come across a member on another forum with two males that needed a home. I want to breed ADF's, and have been doing LOADS of research, but I can't seem to find any females. I thought, if someone who was good at sexing ADF's was on here and they lived near a petstore that sold them, that they could pick out a female or two and send them to me. I would pay for both shipping (as long as it wasn't too much) and for the original cost of the ADF's. I know, I am asking a lot of trust from someone, but if anyone could do this for me it would be wonderful.

Mods, if this is in the wrong spot please move it for me.

They get them at my lfs but I've never sat there and actually tried sexing any of them so I have no idea if they would have any females. I don't see how they couldn't though, they keep upwards of 30 at a time. Have to be a female in there somewhere I'm sure. Next time I go (and if your still looking by that time) I'll see if I can snatch a female for you.

Females are usually larger and adult males have a white bump behind each armpit on their forelegs. Males can also look darker and a bit bumpier then females. Hope that helps.

The problem with trying to sex an ADF sold in a store is that your really cant tell until they are almost or at the age of sexual maturity, which is about a year, and they are never that old in the pet stores. Like Juice said, the females are larger and rounder and sometimes have an extension on their butt. The males have pimple looking glands around their armpits. and they are smaller and more narrow. Your best bet that I can think of would be to talk to people here on AC, see who keeps dwarf frogs and see if you can work out a trade or try to find someone about to sell some. I only keep African clawed frogs, no dwarfs here, but I think there are some other frog people around here. Good luck with your search, and I hope this helps.

have any pics? the males get a white "spot" right behind their arms at maturity. Also, the females are more "pear" shaped with a slightly longer tail and are generally about 10-20% larger in size.
