Who makes the best computers?

I build my own but suggest Dell to my family members. So far none of them have had more than a user created issue with them and most have been using them for 7 or more years.

Since the topic has been brought up. A couple of people here seem to build their own system. What exactly does one need to build a pretty reliable PC. And how does one learn to "build" PC's. What kind of study are we talking about here?

i am sure there are a million links that you can find. i always have trouble with the heat sink... i dont know why.... its really not that hard to build your own.

Icharis, my freind made it for 5 grand. It makes high end aliens look like somethin from the fifties, but it is very sensitive to heat.

Apple. I ditched Windows over 8 years ago and never looked back.
OS 10 blows Windows away IMHO. My second OS choice is Linux which I play with as well.

I totally agree with you. I haven't cared about windows boxes since the PS2 was new.

Take the leap, go Mac.

Laptops - Acer, Toshiba, Sony, Dell - all decent.

Desktop - I build.
Get a nice case w/ a couple of 15CM fans, a CPU/MOBO combo w/ some nice RAM from MWAVE or Newegg, video card of choice, CD/DVD & HDD from whoever has 'em cheapest, and a nice, studly Enermax PSU and you're off, beating the tar out of Dell's benchmarks for way less $, and your rig will be quieter too.
