Who owns a lfs?

I agree with harlock about creating customers - afterall it's those new customores that are simply addicted to being in fish shops i know i was and still am sometimes - if you can get someone off on the right foot they'll support you - i like the private places cause i know they usually know their stuff - there are some that are dumps but at a good one you can get good advice and differetn fish - at (most not all) petsmarts you get some highschool kid picking his nose n fooling around with the tanks - now i have seen times where my petsmarts are in top shape but not always plus they just load fish in by the dozens - sometimes you'll see goldfish with tropicals etc - it depends on whose running the fish section - but i find it hard to believe private lfs are very profitable anyhow - unless you get a good rep as a specialty shop which is hard to accomplish i think

All I know is that i'd have to do a better job than the guy that has the only pet store in the town I want to open my store in. I was in there the other day looking around and checking his prices, I noticed a dead fish in one of the tanks, it looked like it died of Ich. He came over and said "oops, we have a floater" took it out and fed it to a chiclid!! I couldn't belive that he fed a diseased fish to another fish!
