Who would win?

what kind of battle are we talking about? will there be any weapons availble? who has home feild advantage? have both been training before hand?
sorry not tring to make you mad i just had to do that. your going to get lots of answers here but no one can say for 100% which will win. a few factors that come into play are but not limited to;
tank size, size of each fish; which is in its ideal ph and hardness range, how long have they been in the tank, are they comfortalbe in the tank, overall health of each fish, the personality of each fish and so on.
Chipokae are very aggro fish as a whole more so than jd but that's not to say a jd could not defeat one.

I really agree with the above statement. It really depends. Even if it were a bare tank and both were healthy it'd be hard to say. Chipokae, and pretty much any Melanochromis are really nasty little fish that will fight till they can't any more. But a dempsey has size going for him. Speed and aggression vs. brawn. I dunno. I wouldn't try it though.
Whith fully grown fish,it depends,M.chipokae are the largest melanochromis,tank specimen usally been larger than lake fish,it is not so agressive like for.ex auratus,First of all they perhaps dont care,but if the dempsey breeds,i think the chipokae have to be very very agressive,It is best to dont mix africans/CA because of different behaivoir.Are you asking generally? like who going to win this fight,m.tyson/the big swede or do you want to add chipokae/dempsey to your tank?
I may try it if my Chipokae starts acting up!
As far as the water conditions, lets say that the water conditions are in the middle (not perfectly ideal for either fish) so no one would have an advantage there.
I do know this though... Last time I went to the Aquarium Center, I noticed something interesting. If the guy put his hand in pretty much any of the tanks, the fish would scatter, run, and hide, but when he put his hand in the Chipokae tank, they attacked it. He said "No way Id do that if they were full grown".
