I just have a quick question... On my boyfriends tank he is growing a lot of green coraline all over the live rock and such, why not purple??? Is it a stage before purple or something?

Thanks in advance...

Im pretty sure its coraline. I've heard of green coraline before.. Ill try to get a pic in a bit, my camera is charging...

Here is an old pic that I have on my computer... You can see some green on a few rocks... but now its covering more rocks... this is an old pic.. And a really bad pic at that... Ill try to get an up close shot later tonight..

Coraline can come in many colors including green, orange, pink, purple and more. It all depends on what is on the rock when you buy it. If you get some peices with purple then it should spread and you will have more purple.

I see some green coraline in there, mostly to the left

There is green coraline and what I have found in my own system is that the color is dependant on where it was placed in my tank.. Normally for me the green starts and the purple/red colors will eventually start to grow over the green. The green is like a precursor to the other colors..

Fwiw, sometimes the purple starts out green and then purples up as it gets more established. It might also be green coraline or a formanifrian etc. It will all spread as your tank ages.
